The first question every WhatsApp Business API sales rep hears is "How much does it cost?" An honest answer like "this many tenge a month" is hard to find, because the price is made up of two separate parts, and half of the providers hide it behind "calculated individually". In this article we break down the cost of WhatsApp Business API in Kazakhstan honestly: what the price consists of, how much it is in tenge with WazzaBee, what you pay Meta for and what you pay the service for. And the main point right away: the official channel (WABA) is the only safe way to work with customers on WhatsApp, because Meta now bans unofficial connections in batches.

How much does WhatsApp Business API cost in Kazakhstan?

The WhatsApp Business app from Meta is free, while the official WhatsApp Business API with WazzaBee costs $66 per month per line. On top of that you only pay for messages at Meta's rates, and connecting a line costs $0.

First: why you need official WhatsApp at all

Before counting money, it helps to understand what you are paying for. There are two ways to set up WhatsApp for business:

    • Unofficial: a service connects to the regular WhatsApp app, bypassing Meta's rules. Meta treats this as a violation and bans such numbers more and more often, especially during broadcasts and active messaging. You can lose not only the number but your entire customer history.

    • Official (WhatsApp Business API, WABA): a certified interface from Meta itself. Legal, stable, with the right to send broadcasts, a blue badge and a minimal risk of being banned.

So the question "how much does WhatsApp Business API cost" really means "how much does it cost to talk to customers safely and legally". Saving on this usually ends up expensive: a banned number means stalled sales and a lost customer base. We covered the reasons for bans in detail in the article "Why WhatsApp was banned".

An unofficial connection looks like a good deal right up to the first ban. One block and you lose the number all your customers, conversations and reputation are tied to. Official WABA costs more than a basic subscription, but it protects your main asset: your connection with your customer base.

What the price of official WhatsApp is made of

Official WhatsApp has two cost items, and people mix them up all the time:

    1. Service provider subscription: a fixed monthly amount for connecting the channel, the shared inbox, CRM integrations and team work. With WazzaBee this is a plan priced in tenge.

    2. Payment to Meta for conversations (WABA balance): this is what Meta itself charges for delivered messages: broadcasts, notifications and, since October 1, 2026, replies to a customer within the 24-hour window. The first 1000 such replies per month per number go at the minimum price, and an incoming message from a customer costs $0.0021.

So the total price = service subscription + conversation spend. For a company that mostly answers incoming messages, the second part is small: the first 1000 replies per month go at the minimum price. For a company running broadcasts to thousands of contacts, it is the other way round, it is the main cost. Let's look at both parts.

Part 1. Service subscription: how much in tenge

Official WhatsApp (WABA) does not work without a provider platform: the API has no screen of its own and is managed through a connected service. With WazzaBee the official WhatsApp channel comes with the ENTERPRISE plan: $68/month, and that is a fixed subscription: however many chats you run, it does not grow, while the messages themselves are paid separately from the WABA balance.

What the ENTERPRISE plan includes ($68/month)
Official WhatsApp channel (WABA) with the blue verification badge
Protection from bans: Meta's own legal channel
All message types in a single inbox (the messages themselves are paid separately at the rates)
The right to message a customer first (via approved templates)
Bulk broadcasts to your own base without the risk of a ban
Shared inbox + website chat with analytics
    Voice message transcription (AI)
CRM integrations (Bitrix24, amoCRM) and API
    Personal manager and 99.9% SLA

Payment is in tenge, with no link to exchange rates, and there is a discount when you pay for six months or a year. For this money you get more than a "channel": you get the assurance that your number will not be cut off tomorrow for a broadcast. What WABA is and how it differs from regular WhatsApp is covered in detail in the article "Official WhatsApp for business: what WABA is".

    What about unofficial connections?

Unofficial connection methods promise savings, but those are savings on paper: Meta deliberately cleans out such connections, and the more actively you work with customers, the higher the chance of a ban. Count the real cost of a ban: a sales team sitting idle, lost leads, a contact base tied to the number gone. Against that background, the difference in subscription stops looking like savings. For a business that works with customers seriously, there is one safe option: official WABA.

Part 2. Paying Meta for messages: what WhatsApp itself charges for

The second part of the cost is no longer the service but Meta's own pricing. Since July 1, 2025, WhatsApp charges for each delivered template message, not for a whole conversation as it used to. There are three key rules:

    • Meta does not charge for incoming messages, but messaging within the window has been paid since October 1, 2026. When a customer writes to you first, a 24-hour window opens, and within it you can reply with free-form text, without a template. Since October 1, 2026, Kazakhstan has been a separate Meta market: the first 1000 replies in the window per month per number go at the minimum price, and after that each of your replies costs $0.0286. What exactly changed and how to plan your budget is covered in the article "WhatsApp service messages will become paid".

    • You pay when you write first. To message a customer outside the 24-hour window, you send an approved template (HSM). Each such delivered message is charged.

    • The price depends on the template category. Meta divides them into marketing, utility and authentication. Marketing ones (promotions, ads) are the most expensive, utility ones (order status, reminders) are cheaper.

With WazzaBee this part is paid through a separate top-up WABA balance: you put an amount on it, and the cost of sent messages is deducted from it. The convenience is that you pay for results: for messages actually delivered, not for "traffic" or "a package that expires".

Important about 2026. Meta has changed its pricing: since October 1, 2026, service replies within the 24-hour window are paid too. We covered this separately: read "From October 1, 2026, WhatsApp service messages will become paid" to plan your budget in advance.

How much one message costs: prices in tenge

The cost of one message at Meta's rates when sending to Kazakhstan numbers:

    Message typePriceWhen it applies
    Marketing$0.086Broadcasts, promotions, reactivating your base
Utility$0.0286Order status, reminders, outside the 24-hour window
Verification code (OTP)$0.0286Logging into an account, confirming a transaction
Reply to a customer within the 24-hour window$0.0286Live chat while the window is open, beyond the first 1000 replies per month
Incoming message from a customer$0.0021Every message from a customer

Meta reviews its rates no more than once a quarter and announces changes in advance. What exactly it changed on July 1, 2026 and why it did not affect Kazakhstan is covered in the article "WhatsApp Business API rates from July 1, 2026". Since October 1, 2026, a new Meta price list applies to Kazakhstan. Current figures are always available in the "Activation and payment" section and in your dashboard before you top up your balance.

What it really comes to per month: three scenarios

Let's add up both parts and estimate the total cost for typical situations of a Kazakhstan business. The official channel subscription is fixed ($68), while message spend depends on how often you write to customers first.

    ScenarioSubscriptionMeta messagesHow the costs work
You mostly answer incoming messages (service, support)$68 (WABA)depends on chat volumeCustomers write first, an incoming message costs $0.0021, the first 1000 replies per month go at the minimum price, then $0.0286 per reply. The longer the conversations, the more noticeable the bill, but your number is protected from a ban.
You reply + sometimes write first (bookings, order confirmations)$68 (WABA)smallTemplates are needed rarely, the WABA balance is used up slowly.
Active broadcasts (promotions to the whole base, marketing)$68 (WABA)main cost itemThe subscription is fixed, and the WABA balance is the main expense. But broadcasts are legal and do not lead to a ban.

Bottom line: the more you write to customers first, the bigger the share of the second part (Meta messages), while the subscription stays the same. And in any scenario, the official channel removes the main risk: a ban.

    Hidden costs nobody mentions

When comparing services, pay attention to what is often left out of the advertised price:

    • The risk of a ban with unofficial connections. The most expensive "hidden cost": a banned number means stalled sales and a lost customer base. Official WABA does not carry this risk.

    • Connection fee / setup fee. With WazzaBee, connecting a channel is not charged separately: you only pay for the plan.

    • Exchange rate exposure. If the plan is priced in dollars, your bill jumps along with the rate. Our prices are fixed in tenge.

    • Message packages that expire. The "paid for a package, didn't use it, money gone" model is a bad deal. The WABA balance is charged for actual usage.

Before paying, try the free trial period: 7 days to check how everything works for your task, and only then choose a plan. That is fairer than paying blindly.

How to optimize WhatsApp Business API costs

Save not on security but on the second part of the price, Meta conversations:

    1. Use utility templates instead of marketing ones wherever possible. An order status notification is cheaper than a promotional conversation.

    2. Keep your base "warm". The more often customers write to you themselves, the more questions get resolved in the open 24-hour window, without expensive marketing templates.

    3. Don't send "cold" broadcasts. Broadcasts to contacts who have not opted in are not only more expensive but also lower your number's quality rating. How to do it right is explained in the article "Official WhatsApp broadcasts via WABA".

    4. Pay for six months or a year. Longer periods come with a subscription discount.

    5. Don't save at the cost of a ban. The most "expensive" saving is an unofficial connection that gets banned. The official channel is many times more cost-effective than one lost number.

💡 Calculated your budget and decided to connect? Here is the step-by-step: how to connect official WhatsApp (WABA): a preparation checklist, connection in 15 minutes and what to do if the number is already used by the WhatsApp Business app.

    Summary

The cost of WhatsApp Business API is the service subscription plus Meta conversation spend. With WazzaBee the official WABA channel costs $68/month, and messages are paid per item: $0.086 for marketing, $0.0286 for utility, $0.0021 for an incoming message from a customer. Most importantly, it is a secure official channel: unlike unofficial connections that Meta bans, WABA protects your number and your customer base. Payment in tenge, no setup fee and no "call us to find out".
