Where to put the link
The same link works anywhere you can add an address or an image.
Tap "Edit profile", then "Links" and "Add external link". Paste the link and give it a title, for example "Message us on WhatsApp".
Add the "Link" sticker to a story and paste the address. You can change the sticker text to "Order on WhatsApp".

What is a WhatsApp link?
A WhatsApp link is an address like wa.me/77011234567 that opens a chat with the right number in one tap. The customer does not need to save the number: they tap the link and WhatsApp shows the chat with you.
If you add the text parameter, the message box is already filled in. This way you suggest how to start the conversation and immediately see where the customer came from: Instagram, your website or a business card.

How do you create a WhatsApp link with text?
Choose the country, enter the number and the first message in the generator above. The link and QR code are built instantly, then just tap "Copy".
- Choose the country of the number. Kazakhstan is selected by default.
- Enter the WhatsApp number customers will write to.
- Write a short text the customer will send first.
- Tap "Open" and check that the chat opens on your number.

You can also build the link by hand: wa.me/, then the number in international format without a plus, spaces or brackets, then ?text= and the message. But Cyrillic letters and spaces must be encoded correctly, otherwise the link breaks. The generator does it for you.
How do you add a WhatsApp link to Instagram?
Copy the link from the generator and paste it into your profile via "Edit profile" and "Links", or into a story with the "Link" sticker. Give it a clear title: "Message us on WhatsApp" works better than a bare address.
It helps to use different texts for different places. For example, in the profile "Hello! I'm writing from Instagram", and in a promo story "I want the discount from your story". Then the first message tells the manager what to offer.
Why doesn't a WhatsApp link open?
Most often the number has an extra plus, zero or leading 8, or the number is not registered on WhatsApp. Check the link with the "Open" button before you publish it.
- the number starts with 8 or 0 instead of the country code;
- spaces, brackets or dashes ended up in the address;
- there is no WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business on this number;
- text with Cyrillic letters was pasted into the link without encoding;
- a social network or website cut a long link when pasting.
What do you do when the link brings lots of messages?
When there are more requests than one phone can handle, the number is connected to official WhatsApp and the team replies from a shared inbox. The link keeps working, and all managers see the messages at once.
